Afterglow

Here I am,
Lost in the light of the moon,
That comes through my window.
Bathed in blue,
The walls of my memory divides,
The thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses.
Touch me and I will follow,
In your afterglow.
Heal me from all this sorrow,
As I let you go.
I will find my way
When I see your eyes,
Now I'm living,
In your afterglow.
Here I am,
Lost in the ashes of time,
But who wants tomorrow,
In between,
Longing to hold you again,
I'm caught in your shadow.
I'm losing control.
My mind drifts away,
We only have today.
Touch me and I will follow,
In your afterglow.
Heal me from all this sorrow,
As I let you go.
I will find my way,
I will sacrifice,
'Til the blinding day,
When I see your eyes.
Now I'm living,
In your afterglow
[in your afterglow].
When the veils are gone,
As I let you go,
As I let you go.
Touch me and I will follow,
In your afterglow.
Heal me from all this sorrow,
As I let you go.
I will find my way,
I will sacrifice,
Now I'm living,
In your afterglow.
Bathed in blue,
The walls of my memory divides,
The thorns from the roses.
It's you who is closest.
Here is the song on YouTube: Afterglow
These lyrics are dedicated to my dearest friend.

My Childhood Dream- Prompted By Tell a Tale

Shana is sitting with the album in her hand, memories in her mind. Years passed but the one face still remains so visible in her mind and heart. Vijay, her lover, her friend.

I can still remember the night some twenty years ago, when two families formed a new relationship, hugging each other, young Shana aged only five and Vijay aged 10 were engaged. So innocent, best of friends , happy in each others company, unaware of the future, and what it brings. All they knew is that they were happy with each other.

Years flew by. Shana's family now settled in the city, left behind the village, the memories and relationships too. What happened no one understood but yes, the young friends parted, and with that the relationship too. Shana now a young woman , completing her education, ready to settle down. The parents forgot the past, finding a suitable companion for the daughter in similar status. Shana being a dutiful daughter married the parents choice of boy. Started leading a life as a wife, in years, as a mum. Dreams from the past never left her. She could still imagine Vijay, her friend, her companion. Life goes on they say. The pain lessens in years. Does it she thought to herself. Where is he now? Does he remember me?
She had tried in vain to contact him in the past years but no reply from the village. Where was he?

A family wedding brought them face to face with each other. Vijay was there with his family, wife and two beautiful daughters. Shana with her family. Staring at each other, not believing their eyes, the two lovers stood there looking at each other. Time stopped for them. Yes, they both felt it. The love was as strong as before, stronger now. Tears were streaming from their eyes. No one saw the pain in them. They made the choice. No matter how hard it was, but the families came first. Duty came first and thus the two lovers parted again. No words just feelings in their eyes said it all.

This is life. Life goes on. Or does it?

First attempt in the world of blogging

This is my first blog attempt. I'm a bit unsure but I thought this is the best way I could learn.
It has been years since I wrote. Hopefully it will come back. I used to love writing simple poems. Now I only read other readers. This is an adventure for me, scary but hoping to learn as much as I can.
